Just opened the mail and here is my 1917 Peace Dollar, Fantasy Issue restrike from Daniel Carr. I really like the high relief, and the detail--much like the '21 Peace Dollar. Marks are on the flip, not the coin. Probably a 69 from ANACS, much as usual.
Isnt this in the wrong forum?? Not a US coin imo BTW, I love the reverse, but the obverse of the OP coin leaves much to be desired imo
They sure are gorgeous aren't they. Better stock up on as many as possible imo. I have a feeling these will fight price wise with the 64D peace in the coming years on the aftermarket
I think you are quite right. It is one of D.C.'s nicest, and came out extremely well. Wish this one were a 70, but it looks 69 to me, and I am sure ANACS will roll that way.
I expect the 1917 will crush the 64D. Why? Dan's 1917 Reverse uses the "broken sword" design -- with a backstory that gives it a unique place in history. And the high relief is awesome. My only worry is that Dan might produce too many broken sword products.
So has this 'Broken sword reverse' been authenticated by anyone else or is it all on Carr's word alone?
No sorry authenticity does in fact matter. As far as I'm aware no 3rd party verification or authentication has been done to prove that this was in fact original. All I've seen is the story posted by Carr himself, and being that he's someone who has a vested interest for it to be true as he's selling an item based off the design I think people would want to see some sort of additional verification.
Check the CU forums then. Was posted there as well and certainly one of them would have disproved it if fake
I've seen the thread over there and again as far as I'm aware this has not been authenticated by anyone but is all based on Carr's claims.
Yeah of course that isn't disputed but there is no verification that what Carr claims is true or his bronze model authentic.
So your saying he just made the die? Man that guys is amazing!! The level of detail and real like appreciable is remarkable and would make any Chinese counterfiter extremely jealous.
