The opening post was quite legit but once you have paid your good money for a Larin, it is easy to be satirical (like all the following posts). For example, this morning I watched my wife hiding these fake Lari in her hair. It actually might have been a good method for transporting a few Laren back in the day.

I find the Persian hair pin types atractive but I do not own one. This link depicts a real hair pin type coin: https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/pa..._shape_money_superb_ef_rr/616397/Default.aspx

My photo is satire. The link listed is for-real. The attractive hair pin type Lari in the link comes from Persia. :)

This "Larin" derives from the name of coastal town in Persia "Lar". And this is also called "Angutu Massa", Fish Hook" and "Silver Hook". The use of larin in Sri lanka is in 14th century. The Arabians came to Sri Lanka for sell gems and spices and they introdused these coins to SL and they acquired a great popularity among Srilankans. This was used in Kandyan region era of SL.
I would like to thank all of you to discuss about "Larins" by using my coins as examples.
