If I can take a coin that borders on a VG/F, and I paid VG price, that has been neglected over the years, eye appeal gone to hell from dirt, grease, has a non uniform appearance, then give it a little attention and be able to make it look a little more uniform, possibly bring out the &quot;F&quot; characteristics that were hidden, so to speak, then, to me, that&#039;s worth it. VG coins can be undergraded because of appearance and going from VG to F (even though supposedly one can&#039;t improve the grade...and in the strict sense of it&#039;s grade, perhaps that&#039;s correct) is a good bump in value (depending on the coin of course). Bottom line...I think it&#039;s all relative to the individuals&#039; perception of worth, which can generally be attributed to that individuals&#039; wealth, or their &quot;scale&quot; of wealth. By the way, there are individuals who recondition TV&#039;s and resell them. Taking it a bit further...one man&#039;s awful ex-wife can be another man&#039;s dream. Point....mostly perception with coins (which is why there is &quot;eye appeal&quot; that is naturally subjective). You don&#039;t have fast, hard, cold, all encompassing,&nbsp; absolute &quot;facts&quot; that will apply to every &quot;individual&quot; coin because every individual coin is a little different, obviously especially so with circulated/raw coins. So.....to say &quot;never, ever, or absolutely&quot; is just plain incorrect, wrong, non-factual. Though to preface these kinds of &quot;ideas&quot; (and that&#039;s all they are really) with &quot;In my humble opinion&quot; would be correct.
