I see I now have 15 AE Kushans, most in very poor condition. I am fascinated by the ancient South Asian coinage. I see I may have this one mislabeled as Huvishka, 158-195 with elephant rider on the reverse. Most of the others are so worn and damaged that no script is visible. 158-195 Kushan AE Unit obv (3).JPG 158-195 Kushan AE Unit rev (3).JPG

This is indeed an issue of Huvishka, and a very nice example for this type. The elephant-rider side is the obverse. I think Huvishka’s eastern series is the only one that shows him standing: otherwise he is reclining on a couch, sitting on clouds, riding an elephant,...

The reverse depicts Athsho, the god of metals. These issues come in multiple weight standard: the heavier ones were struck early in his reign.
