Hello everyone: Before so many magnificent posts, I hope this is not laughable. The truth is that with this currency I do not know how to continue. It's not mine, I found it in an old post of another forum, without identifying and I thought I'd learn a bit with it... 29mm and 16.5 grams The countermark is similar to the ones in this post: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ancients-pantikapaion-countermarked-ae.232904/#post-1749195 So I "thought" it could belong to the Kingdom of Bosporus, and to Pharnaces II (64 - 47 BC), by the monogram to the left of the head of the obverse, if it is really the same ... I found something "similar" monogram in: or this one... CIMMERIAN BOSPOROS, Pantikapaion. temp. Pharnakes. Circa 63-47 BC. Æ (25mm, 15.72 g, 1h). Laureate head of Apollo right / Eagle standing left on thunderbolt, head right; monogram to left, star to right. MacDonald 187; HGC 7, 111. VF, brown patina. Overstruck on a "head of Dionysos/bow case" type probably issued under Machares (MacDonald 46). The countermarks on ancient coins are new to me, this coin even seems to be overstruck on another, I think it's a "prow" on the reverse, but I'm not sure either. I hope someone can help me or give me an idea of how to continue... or at least it is of interest. Many thanks.
