http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/alerts/coinalrt.htm The Federal Trade Commission spells things out well here saying : "Certification services provided by dishonest coin dealers too often are part of fraudulent sales schemes and are intended to mislead consumers". While I will make no accusations here regarding SGS, Abon or various sellers on Ebay, I would invite anyone who feels they have been frauded to contact the agencies provided in the above link including the USPS which is probably the quickest way to stop someone conducting fraud and using the postal system. I was sad, however, in reading this thread that not once did Stevesgiftshop defend his ethics or explain that selling a product that "will get you laughed out of the local coin store" was indeed upfront and not misleading at all. Quoting a pcgs price is beyond misleading and some would be right to guess that that line alone is intent to mislead as referenced in the above FTC quote. Personally, I could care less if people sell quarters worth face value on ebay for $50 UNLESS they are intentionally misleading consumers and commiting fraud which is a constant erosion of satisfaction for collectors/investors and hurts us all. While I cannot enforce ethics upon others I can certainly enforce them on myself and I plan on contuing to do that.
