I’ve scored some nice coins from world junk bins over last few months but yesterday may take the cake. Attached are a handful of photos. Paid right around $8/lb or $12 total for ~180 coins. Best finds: Switzerland 1939 B 1 Rappen (key date) Philippines 1940 M 1 Centavo (UNC-weak strike) Hungary 1920 20 Filler (UNC detail. I love Hungarian coins for some reason and I love old iron coins. No idea what the discoloration does to grade / value). Plus probably found 5 more $4-8 coins and a ton of $1-3 coins. An UNC Mexico 1 centavo, some nice 1/12 Anna’s, a number of nice Dutch East Indies 5 cents, Cuba 1 Centavos, two Colombian 1948 1 centavos, plus another 100+ coins that didn’t make the photo. Grabbed quit a few nice Canadian cents 1920-1936 and a few nickels in the same date range. The 1922 nickel is especially nice and several of the cents are XF+. Overall I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. Let me know if anyone wants better pictures of any individual coin. Any thoughts on any of these coins are appreciated. Thanks.
Nice pickup, and good photos. Thanks for sharing. Have you ever bought world coins by the pound and gone through them? I'm still going through my last batch (6 pounds) and have found many coins in almost AU condition and for their age, it is unbelievable.
I was shocked when I looked that one up. 10k mintage. Even more shocked when I looked up sold listings on eBay.
