If you don't own a Red Book, you can always use Coin Facts.com to answer such questions.

It's plain. Look for the accent hair variety also.

I bought four 40% halves yesterday at the local antique shop for $3 total. Two were 1967 and two were 1969-D. $.75 per coin was a good but not great price; but I couldn't walk out of the store and just leave them there.

Don't worry, 75 cents a piece will seem like a heck of a deal when silver hits $50 an ounce again. ;)

I'm a headin' outta here to get 3 boxes of Kennedy's. Hopefully, I'll strike it rich and then I'll get a secretary to do my CoinTalkin' for me. You guys won't have me and the pup to kick around anymore. I'll let you all know the results.

Some advice: Never search for halves in downtown. Almost every bank I went to had no halves, and everyone is like, mean. I did however manage to nab 6 1967 halves from a nice bank.

Suburban banks tend to be nicer, I have discovered.

I had the same issue with the banks. I called my banks, and ask if they have any halfs. they reply no and hang up. Dont give me any other numbers to call, or tell me when to try back or offer any other help. My g/f called her bank and they are the total opposite. We got 60 or so bucks over the last 5 days, but havent found anything worth telling..

I just got a nice little score. A local business brought in their deposit and when the lady reached into her bag to pull out the change I heard the delightful sound of silver. She dumped a handful of Walkers, Franklins, and Silver Kennedy's out. She then asked "if i could take them off her hands". I hid my exitement and calmly said "sure". She looked really relieved and proceeded to tell me the story about the STUPID cashier that had accepted them from a customer. So now, I can tell the story of the stupid business owner that came and deposited them at the bank!

So in $1500 dollars in Kennedy's I managed to find the following:

    2-1964
    1-1965
    5-1966
    7-1967
    10-1968
    1-1969
    ---------------
    1-1960 Franklin
    1-1906D Barber

The barber was a surprise. Never found one in Kennedy rolls before. Not so impressive for the amount of coins I had to search but it beats a sharp stick in the eye I guess. Some of the 1966's, 1967's, and 1968's were in great condition for having been in circulation. Must have been a short ride for them.

About 5 yrs ago i picked up this 1906d at the flea market,it's pretty much the worst condition coin i own.
I'd have to say the obverse is a G-4 with the rev being G-3,whats suprising is that redbook has G-4 listed at 12.00...only a little over 4 million minted.
Whats the condition of the one you found MOEN?Do you have a pic?
    $800 bucks in MS-63...

I can't say that this coin is in very good condition. It is pretty worn. I can read the date and the mint mark fairly easily but most of the high points are gone. Take a look.

Awesome finds Moen, and that Barber is about the coolest thing I've ever heard of coming from a roll of Kennedys. I always hoped I'd see it happen one day. Congratulations!

got to town today and went to 2 banks that I haven't been to before. One didn't have any. The second one, however, had $75 loose in a bag. The bag was going to be sent to Brinks to be rolled up. Luckily I got it....

    It held:
    my first walker
    my first Franklin
    dates:
    42
    43
    53D
    64-2
    67-2
    68

I tried getting a $500 bag of loose halves from the bank that my family banks at, and they wouldn't let us have it. I guess this will do instead though :)

I only search rolls of halves on a casual basis...maybe two or three rolls a month.
After about a year of finding only clad JFKs ,i got lucky a couple of days ago,
    getting a $20 roll of all 40% silvers(65-69)
But Franklin's,Walkers and even Barbers,It's hard to believe those are still out there, sitting in rolls.
Not that i'm doubting you guy's,but you must be searching a lot of rolls to score those coins especially the Barbers.
    congratulation's on your finds.

I only searched 150 rolls yesterday morning. I'm looking for another 100 rolls today. I may have to start going to other near by towns.

I've found about a dozen Franklins and two Walkers in almost a year's time, but I search a lot of rolls. The first Franklin I found well, I'll just say that I was very excited. It was a typical, common 1963, but it was still a Franklin.

The most silver halves I've ever found in one roll was six. That has happened two or three times, but I'd be blown away to find an entire roll of silver.

I searched 75 rolls this week between Tuesday and Thursday and found a mere 6 coins. Keep looking and one day a Franklin or a Walker will pop up. When it happens you'll feel like you just won the lottery.

Nor have I. Lot of searching, no Barbers. Great find, Moen!

Nor have I found a Barber.

On another note, when I was at a new bank the other day (getting rolls of halves) one of the managers asked me if I was lloking for silver and I said Yes. He said that his grandmother had been saving silver coins for decades and wanted to sell them, he asked if I was interested. I said yes and he passed my email along to his grandmother who subsequently contacted me. I made a recommendation of a dealer to contact and advised her that after she'd gotten an estimate from the dealer that she should contact me, since I might be able to give her more for them than the dealer. She has about $500 face value (pre-64 dimes, quarters, and halves) and the dealer offered her less than $2000 for the coins without even looking through them. I offered her $2100 and she accepted, so in a couple of weeks I will have my best find ever from a bank. lol I'm excited to see if there is anything good in the lot before selling most of the common stuff on eBay. It should be a lot of fun!
