But I don't undrstand? Abon would never use stock photos. Mabey they are selling two coins at the same time? They would never try to cheat an unsuspecting customer.

    Would They?;)

I just got to work this morning and found a treat waiting for me in the coin machine! One of my co-workers told me that she'd seen some "funny looking coins in the half dollar bag" So, of course, I went through it. Here's the list:
    Walkers
    1940
    1942
    1943
    1944
    1946

    Franklins
    1951
    1954 D
    1958 D
    1962 D

And a 1966 Kennedy. All in all, not a bad way to start the day.

I'm almost tempted to become a teller in my late years. Nice finds TOLS! Again, I-am-so-jealous.

And, I can't seem to find a 1964 proof Kennedy. Some of my coin books list a 1964 and a 1964-D but not a 1964 proof. My whitman book has a spot for a 1964 proof. What's up with that!

Time to get a new book. 1964 proof exist. I even think there are several varieties.

I'm the reason that the rest of you don't find many walkers and franklins in your boxes of halves. I snatch them all before they can get shipped to the Fed. Just kidding. Good luck to all you roll searchers!

Instead of snatching them all, why not put a walker or two in some of the rolls. That way, you know, we can like, have some. :-D

Someday, when I'm not a starving college student, I may just do that. For the moment, however, I'm keepin' um all! :)

Strategy: Stay in school. Become bank's president. You won't have to work as hard. But be careful not to hire Moen as a teller.

Hey guy's...I've been searching half-dollar rolls for about a year now without finding much of interest, but today i finally got lucky.
I went to my local B of A and asked the teller for $20 in halves, the teller gave me the usual run around, saying i don't think we have any...by now i know they just don't want to bother to go to the vault...so i told her i had called ahead and was told by someone at the bank that they were available
    (not true)
It must have worked because she grudgingly said she would have to go to the vault,...fine i can wait.
Well as luck would have it i ended up with a $20 roll of 65,66,67,68s all 40% silver.pretty exciting.
Does anybody have a rough estimate of the value, most are well circulated.
If the tellers weren't so lazy i wouldn't have to lie

My dealer said he'd pay 60 cents each for 40% silver. Another dealer said he pay a little more than that. The 1964's are worth 2 dollars each or 4 times face. Pretty standard.

You can ask your bank to order a box of halves. A lot of banks won't carry them unless you ask them to because nobody really uses them. I search about 1500 dollars worth a week and it all comes from the Fed via some of my banks.

60 cents for a 40% silver half dollar isn't a good deal. Just keep the half dollar. Check out Ebay and see what 40% halves sell for.

Each silver clad JFK=.14 oz sil, 40x.14=5.6 oz, at $7 per oz thats $39.20
    melt value.
I know i wouldn't get full melt but 60cents a piece seems like a rip.
I plan to add it to my collection anyway.

    Right 40 times .14 oz,thats 5.6 oz.....or 98 cents of silver per coin.
that's the way the math comes out if you round silver off at $7 per oz.
Of course the dealer will want his cut but 60 cents is still a bad deal anyway you slice it.
I'll check E-bay for 40% rolls and see what they sell for.
    Found this
XF to BU Roll of 1967 40% Silver Kennedy Half Dollars 20 coins. someone is bidding $14.99 for this 20 coin roll
