I meant Walkers, sorry for the confusion. Sometimes my fingers outrun my brain. It happens a lot. I am used to it until someone points out my mistake. Thanks for sending me back to reality.

    Ryan,
Your run of luck has been AMAZING! And with the higher price of silver recently it is all the more better. Congrats on the finds!

LOL I know. I was hoping to have a repeat performance of the first ones, but no dice. The yellow wrappers, at least in NY, seem to have much more silver. Thanks TCT I am loving the way silver is going. Is everyone else still searching or have you given up? It seems that posts have started to dry up as of late. Cya all alter.

I actually went through three boxes so far today. Not too impressive this time:

    Franklin
    1954
    Kennedy
    1964 2
    40% 13

Along with a 1968-S Proof. The Proof is the only somewhat exciting find of the day as its a coin I needed for my roll searching collection of Kennedy's.

My goal is to get a complete collection of Kennedys from circulation. I've found a number of proofs (like 7 or 8). I've pulled all four 2002 (P,D,S,S-Silver) from circulation. The only coins I think I'll have trouble with are the silver proofs - but I've found one, so it may happen...

    Franklin

So, not great, but not terrible. Such have been my boxes recently. Good luck all!

Not that I dislike the half dollar or anything, but whats its purpose other than collecting? They are rarely even circulated and not widely used.

You have to remember that the half dollar has been around since the US began minting coinage, and was used in everyday commerce for a very long time. However, as the dollar became more and more devalued, there was less and less need for halves in circulation. There is one exception to this, slot machines. Up until very recently .50 slots still used real halves. Now, most all use either tokens or cards. With this, the last bastion of the Half Dollar was gone. So, since 2002 the mint has not released any halves for general circulation. The only reason that they are still being minted is that congress hasn't told the mint to stop producing them yet.

I just don't see the need for this coin anymore. With the price of base metals these days, it would seem to be the right thing to do. At one time this coin was used quite often but not so much today.

Any coin with an assassinated president depicted on it will be hard to change or eliminate altogether.

I do believe that if the mint or the BEP had to start cutting corners well, the half, the penny, and the $2 bill might be the first three to go, maybe even the $1 bill.

I'd like to see a $5 or $10 or even a $20 coin seriously considered, but I'm stupid like that.

Hey bigs, I don't think we've heard from you in a while. Hows the roll searching been going? Been going through any halves?

Ah, my results this year (since 10/05) have been less than stellar. My average for rolls searched per each coin found is terrible. I get a few keepers here and there, but nothing really exciting. I went through a long stretch where everything I got was a 1994-D, roll, after roll, after roll. Many of them were lightly coated in what can best be described as a graphite type substance, like grease. I'm assuming they came from a casino- slot machines maybe? Or, maybe they got that way when they were wrapped by the armored car service. It's hard to say. Anyway, that got old quickly, and I considered stopping for a while. Then I went on vacation. When I got back I started up again, and the pickings have improved a little bit, enough to keep me going... for now. We'll see where it leads.

Trying my luck at halves. Picked up 2 boxes yesterday. I have searched 20 rolls and gotten 1-64, 31 65-69, and a 97S. Pretty good start. Hope it continues.

Very good fireman fred. I got 8 rolls yesterday and I got 1- 1964, 8- 40%. So the silver is still out there but its hard to find rolls in my area.
