Finished the box. Here are the totals
    No 90% Silver

    3- 1967
    1- 1968-D
    24- 2002-P
    31-2002 D
    13- 1999P 3 worth keeping

Wish there was more silver, but I heard the 2002s were somewhat rare and not released for circulation.

I am not sure if these are worth keeping. I may search through them and keep the best ones or maybe a roll of each mint mark.

    I guess overall not bad

Wel, I got my first two boxes ever today and had a hell of a find:
    5-Franklins
    67-90% Kennedys
    70-40% Kennedys
    2000-s proof
    2 old Jamaican pennies
    1 old british penny

So, how did I do? :)

One box had brown wrappers and the other actually came in a plastic bag made by the bank. Oddly enough the bank bag actually had alot of silver. I figured it would have been picked over.

went to the bank today to get halves for the first time to search thru them

    $470 in halves and got one 90% (1964) + two 40%

i waited over half an hour for the bank to gather up all the halves they had and to go through whatever routine (paper filling etc.) they had to do, dragged the 900 pound box with me, and then spent another half an hour going through them at home, it was fun i guess but it's not really worth my time for most-likely slim results. i won't be doing this again :-(

As several people have stated over the course of this thread, searching rolls of halves isn't going to make you rich (most likely). Personally, I look at it as something of a treasure hunt in a box. I know full well that most of the boxes I search won't have much of value in them. However, every once in a while, you get that killer box thats loaded. Thus far, I have throughly enjoyed building collections of coins found searching rolls. For me, roll searching is like a numismatic lottery ticket. You know that the odds of hitting the big one are astronomical, but its still fun to play.

I'm with you TOLS.....I call roll searching my "poor man's lottery". Unlike the usual lottery where you spend your money and HOPE to get something back, with roll searching, if I find something SWEET, if not, I've still got my money in hand.

Its the only gamble you can't lose ;)

Found nothing - no silver, proofs, key dates, or errors.

Ok, sorry it took me so long to post my finds since my last post. I ended up receiving $1,250 in Kennedy Halves through extensive prodding of my 2 banks. Wells Fargo ended up getting all the coins for me bc Banke One, now Chase, wouldn't pay the charge to have them specially delivered. Guess who got the searched over coins back? Chase!! I did re-wrap them at least.

    My finds:

    No Walkers
    No Franklins
    2- 64's
    1- 65
    1- 66
    2- 67's
    1- 68 D
    1- 69 D
No 64 D to fill up my empty silver slot.

I found a 1980 proof in about uncirculated condition. I think that is correct terminology. But it is a proof.

I think it will be easier to tell you what halves I didn't find to fill up my Whitman folder #1 and #2.
    Coins I didn't find are:
    64 D
    85 P
87 P & D Which I think will be very hard to find.
    90 P
    91 P

Not bad to have filled all but 6 KennedyWhitman slots in 2.5 boxes. Or is it? My first coin search and I the Whitman's were completely empty when I started.

Also, I noticed one box ALL wrapped by Brinks had all 1974 D's marked with a black magic marker through the date as if to mark that they were searched by someone else looking for the double die mark. Also, 1982, 1998 and 1999 were magic markered the same way. Strange to have one box all Brinks wrapped with 1974 marked through. Ok, enough about my search.

Great pull on that 1970! Thats the one Kennedy that has thus far eluded me.

I have a full set of JFK's, except for all the proofs.

I have several 1970 D's, and I think I found at least one of them. Bought the others.

As I understand it, 1970 D halfs were not released for general circulation.

So, how did I find one?

You most likely found it just the same way most of us find proof coins in circulated rolls. Someone just decides one day it will be cool to spend bright new coins when purchasing something or a kid raids a mint set and buys some gum. Many different scenarios to list.
