    well, I went through my 2 boxes for the holiday. Found a whopping 3 40% silver kennedy's plus a 2003D and 2004P.

Make that 0 for 16 on my recent boxes. By the way Atrox, I've started checking all my 89-D's for that RPM of yours. Haven't found one yet, but I'll keep my eyes open! Good Luck to all, and happy Holidays!

I almost always have some success. Perhaps it's because I live in a small town, and perhaps there are few collectors here.

I usually pick up only a few rolls, and always seem to find a keeper or two.

I've been averaging about 4-6 40% per box and 1 or 2 90% per box. Last week I picked up a box that had 39 - 40%, 1-1964, 1-1954, a 2002s, and a 1912 penny from Great Brittian (it was right on the end of a roll).

I picked up a box yesterday. Didn't get a single thing.

I've started marking my coins so I can tell if I get them back.

As I had nothing better to do this weekend, I searched for rolls of halves. I managed to find 6 boxes worth. They netted me a grand total of 4 40% Kennedy's and one counterstamped Kennedy. Definately not good, but hey, at least I broke my streak!

Saturday went to the bank and asked for some halfs-she said they only had ONE that was rolled-but she had loose ones in the vault. So I picked up the one roll and some dimes (just because of a recent article in coinworld)-didn't find anything in the 850 dimes but did find a 1964 in the 20 halfs

Seeing as all the roll searchers are doing poorly these days, I'll post some inspirational pics. My lofty goal is to pull a complete set of Walkers, Franklins, and Kennedys from circulation. I'll probably never do it, but hey, there's nothing wrong with wishing. At present I have (I have many duplicates of most dates):

    26 Different Date/MM Walkers
    29 Different Date/MM Franklins (all but 6!!!)
All of the Business Strike Kennedy's except for the 1970-D, along with roughly half the proofs.

I was wondering if anyone else is trying to do this, or if you all are just in it for the "junk" silver. Regardless, I wish you all the best of luck in your efforts. The following pics are of my "roll searching" Franklin collection.

I'm with you tols. No walkers or franklins are junk silver in my opinion. I have a long ways to go on the franklins before I get a complete set. The walkers I'm in decent shape.

They're out there Chicken, just keep on looking, and, eventually, you'll find them. By the way, I agree that there is no such thing as junk silver. I think that its a real shame that most Walkers and Franklins don't carry any premium over melt value. I think that they're some of the coolest coins of the past century.

Went to my bank today to see if they hand any halves... only had a handful they had sitting in their drawers, which I took (Since they already went to the effort), though most look they they've beat up in slot machines. They said they could order a $500 box. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to do it yet, since I don't have that mcuh lying around, but they said they would order it anyway, not make me buy the whole thing at once. I plan on going thru it at about $50 a paycheck, can always spend the ones not worth saving. I doubt anyone else around there will ask for any, so I can probably have the whole box eventually. Waiting for the call from them!

So long as you don't steal all of my Franlins and Walkers!!!

I think the Franklin half is one of the most under appreciated US coins of all time. Then again, I like the Ike dollar, the Peace dollar, and prefer the Liberty DE to the St. Gaudens. I'm good like that.

So, I'd rather find a Frankiln than any Kennedy and most Walkers, and I don't consider any of them to be "junk" silver. I'd start an album but haven't found enough yet to make it worth while. Maybe one day.....

well, I am in the process of "cashing in" on my finds and this is what I was able to buy with the proceeds of my roll searching:

I picked it up from my local shop today. It "cost" me 7 rolls of 90% silver halves and 14 rolls of 40% halves, nearly my entire last year's worth of searching.

    It was definately worth it!

I thought it would be fun to do this also. At first I thought all I would get would be 1964 - 2002 business strikes, but I've found three Franklins (one was a duplicate  ), a 2003D, and a 2002S, so I figure with enough searching, it may just be possible.

Wow! Great score Cave Troll! I particularly like the way that you quoted the price paid in rolls of silver.

Have to agree with you on that. Then again, the Walking Liberty half was a tough act to follow. A lot of people didn't warm up to the Franklin because they thought the walker looked better. After Kennedy was assasinated they wanted to put him on something... they almost went with the quarter, but Jacky Kennedy didn't Washington taken off the quarter. So the Franklins disappeared after only 15 years.

Next year though it looks like Franklin will be back on a coin again... a Franklin commemorative is planned it looks like.

Went through $100 in Halves and found 3 keepers.
    A 1967, 1968, and 1969-S (Proof)!!
    Not bad for 10 rolls!
