I think he may have ment 1970-D was a key date...I get 71's and just spend them...
We are never sarcastic around here....this is a family friendly forum....
You might want to get a Red Book....that will help....the price guide part of it isn't good to use...the prices aren't the best so keep that in mind...but the rest if the best!

Actually if you search rolls, 71's are everywhere. Believe me you will get sick of them so fast.
That Franklin you found...oh man, that is just cool.

If you don't have it allready you should get a copy of James Wiles "The Kennedy Half Dollar Book". There are about 300 listings for Kennedy doubled dies from 1964 - 1992. There are about 20 listings for the 71 and 71D, and because the 71's are so common, there must be new dies out there to be discoverd.

No it wasn't silver but it was still quite mirrored. I oredered a Dansco earlier this week and It was waiting for me when I got home from work on Friday so I put the proof in there. I don't really like danscos but I guess its better than 2X2's. I reserve my direct-fits for unc and good condition proofs. Toned proofs and circ proofs go into the Dansco.

BTW Nice find, 3-87's. Wow! I wish I could find even one of those. Sounds like you prospered from a kid selling of dads collection.

My latest 100 rolls yielded the following:

    3-1964's
    2-1965's
    1-1966
    8-1967's
    12-1968's
    5-1969's

    1-1987P

    1-1911 Barber Half

    Anyone else find anything good?

Gotta love those kids! My only regret is that I was one of them once long ago. How sad.

my math teacher is an avid numismatic and he decided that an 89 kennedy of mine is in gem condition and told me to HANG ON ! i'm pretty excited about that. Is there any way i can tone it without hurting the value? i'm a freak about that purple color and i still want the value :)

Anything other than Natural toning will lower the value to many....so anything you do to tone it will lower it more than likely.

I don't collect toned coins so I can't say for sure how much it would lower the value or how to tell if a coin is toned natural or not...maybe GDJMSP will be by soon....

ANOTHER Barber, Moen? Let's see...that makes 2 for you and none for me. You know what they say, when you have 2 of something you should share.... :D

Yeah, but they are so worn that I feel like I already have been sharing. :)

There are a great many collectors who look upon artificially toned coins as junk. Typically - you can't give artificially toned coins away let alone sell them.

Here is an example of a doubled die from the 70's that can be found in circulation, has some value and interest. http://cgi.ebay.com/DDO-1-Doubled-D...Z8346408259QQcategoryZ524QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
