Love it also, Joe. Very nice D/S. Great eye appeal on a large size coin.

Double strike on a clipped planchet.

Sometimes I can't tell if it's clipped, or if it's just a result of being physically distorted from a second strike

My question is how does someone come across something like this? Or maybe I should say, how does something like this make it thru to the distribution process? Or are mint employees scooping them up and selling them on the market?

Walked out or found in an old Mint bag

Gotta return it. Received today and has a staple scratch by the T in LIBERTY

Nothing, and I mean nothing, is worse than a stable scratch. And even if it isn't, it just looks like one, and I have to really really like it if I'm going to keep it

From your closeup photo, the mark does look incuse and cuts into coin. I guess the TPG overlooked that, and didn't mention it on the label... :(

So you're saying it may have walked out in someones pocket from the mint?

I’d go a buck and a half. Even with the missing chunk. Nice piece Joe

I would ask how much this would cost but I probably couldn't afford it...
