    Sex sells. Nothing like a sleazy tabloid story to spice up a coin that would have otherwise been overlooked by most.

    I probably would have bought the coin just for the portrait alone, as it is superb, but the fact that Kavadh was a rather colorful character definitely helped to push me over the edge. It makes owning the coin a little extra special. Obviously people agreed, which is why it probably got so many likes.

    That is some coin. How do you read it? DYNAN? Date?

    That's DYWAN according to the new book Sasanian Silver Coins by Yngve Karlsson, an uncertain mint that some identify as the district Dinar of Ray and others as Dinawar in Media. The year is 30.

    Doug, I believe your drachms are from year 24 (maybe 34) and 36.
