Yes, but unfortunately, I haven't gone to the bookstore in a while, and consequently, I have no books on coins save for a photograde book.... and (although I wish I did) I know NOTHING about silver dollars!

My favorite just happens to be my worst one.Yes a cursed coin i cant even be around. The story goes , in 1992 , I was working with my grandfather for a couple of weeks.Doing some odd construction jobs ,right out of High School.
Well he couldnt pay me because his boss couldnt pay him. So no big deal.

A few months later he showed me this silver dollar he found on a remodel job a few years back. He found a box of old coins in an old wall ,and decided to tell the homeowner. She said those are my ex- husbands,GET THEM OUTA HER
E . So whatta find,, right.

Well my grand dad hands me this coin and i was amazed. It turns out to be an 1802 draped bust silver in excellant condition. I asked him how much is it worth , and he said oh, about a thousand.
A few months later he caught neumonia(BAD SPELLING).and passed away two days after christmas.

So afew years later i wanted to see how much it is worth and visited a local coin shop here in Colorado. On the way there my friend was driving and some old lady ran a red light and smashed right into the side of my friends car.( we never made it to the coin shop)
A while later i was still curious to at least check to see what this coin was worth. ANOTHER accident this time fatal for one of my best freinds.

In 1997 i ran into some financial problems, so i moved to Florida for some work. I came back home for Christmas that year and had to see my coin.
At this time, I knew of know curse. On the way back to FL.,my flight was cancelled. My second flight had an 8 hour layover in Chicago. While trying to transfer to another flight ,there was a two hour blackout at the airport.
When all was said and done, there was no record of me even having a flight.
Eventually I ended up back in Tampa, only to have bad go to worse.(this whole time the coin was in my pocket). My luggage was lost, the taxi ride which was only supposed to take an hour to get to Anna Maria Island took about six hours on two separate taxis. We were stalled at the Skyway bridge for a couple of hours because there was to much wind. Finally crossing the bridge we were in an accident. Finally transforing taxis, we were on our way. One more bridge to cross , It seems the bridge was out of order. No big deal, we'll take the other one.Well i finally made it home. To make this long story short three more accidents and a near fatal robbery(i had a gun slammed into the back of my head and was stabbed in the back while visiting another coin shop. All of the coins i had with me were ripped of except my lucky 1802 silver dollar. I had it in my pocket.) So now a days I dont even go near that thing .It is possessed. It now lies under lock and key in a bank under my sisters name.Well i ever see her again(Draped Bust)?

    1802 Draped bust

I wish i could show u a pic ,but im not up to speed with the technology.
I had a friend look at her and he says its xf-45. I would send it in to be encapsulated , but not worth the trouble. Other than that, all of my specimens happen to be my favorite.

Save this web site as a Favorite - Click Here - it's just like a Red Book in that it lists every US coin ever made, with pictures and basic information like mints, mintage numbers etc.

Now - the problem with that coin is that the first Morgan dollar was made in 1878. And the one in the pic is dated 1824. It's a fake - bigtime fake.

I think I'd take that thing and give it to my worst enemy - as a present ;) Lord what a story !!

Thanks a lot for the website! That'll really help!

You sure that couldn't be 1884? Looks it to me.... but I could certainly be wrong... the picture's pretty fuzzy, and my eyes are really bad!

For the original poster's sake I hope it is an 8. I'd much rather be wrong - but it looks like a 2 to me. Could easy be the pic though.

Very true - would definitely suck if it was a counterfeit!

I hope you didn't let it move around in your pocket lose and such....becuase if you did more than likely you lower the graded from when you had gotten it and therefor the value is lower....but I agree...if its real...send it in for grading...I haven't seen many 1802 Bust Dollars--in fact...I might not have seen any...but I think I saw 1 at the last show.

Thanks, I'm a recovering toned addict, but i frequently fall off the wagon- but now with these toning kits, i'm a little weary of buying them. Most of the allure of toned coins is the process in which the were created, and there is nothing alluring about a paint by numbers toned coin. Well since I'm here i might as well post another favorite.

    more from the 1802 bust

Thats only part of the story. (and it has been in a supposadly air tite holder shortly after recieving it)Ther e must be many stories to this coin many of which I do not know. Some day i would like a psychic to check it out.I do feel some sort of energy just holding this coin.At one point in time, I sent for a slab pack( sleeves to send the coin in to be graded) and i never recieved the materials, so i gave up.It gives me an eerie feeling just talking about it. I had interesting talk with my uncle about this subject.(He was with my grand father on the job site).Well this shoe box of old coins they had found, they ended up pawning or selling all of these coins but the 1802 bust.Turns out, they had similiar stories of trying to sell this coin for beer money. But none quite as drastic as mine. My uncle told me that the homeowner had their basement remodeled because she had thought there was a dead body buried in the old plaster walls. She too had felt an eerie feeling about going down stairs.Well no bones just some old coins. Looks like it is mine till the day i croak. I have had nothing but bad luck trying to just price orsee exactly what i have. So i really doubt that I can just give it away with no further problems.
There is just to much history involved. Plus it reminds my of the last two weeks i spent with my grandad before he passed. The curse only seems to happen when i was curious of pricing or selling this cursed object.
So, way to many memories to just throw away or give away. Well most of them were bad but either way.I have had no problems since it has been locked away.Well, one. While setting up a lock box account for my sister, the exact minute i placed her inside, the power went out for 15 minutes.

Maybe the coin had something to do with the break up of her marriage and she knew it and wanted to be rid of it!

That which is unknown may be best left unknown! Opening doors can be scary when one knows not that which is standing on the other side! You have trusted your instincts thus far and would be wise to follow those instincts. A wise man thinks and then follows through while a fool follows through only to wish he had thought!

    ehh, cursed my foot.

I think the technical term for many unrelated uncommon events occurring to one person is "coincidence".

I'd be willing to drive to you and take it off your hands to save you from any more of its "negative energy".

Well i kinda like this one... It might not look much but it's got history on its side, and it means far more to me than my Saint or even my BU silver Washers.

English silver penny minted between 924 & 939.

    UNRELATED!!
You know, i have put more thought into this subject, and relly it is good luck. Only the bad things happen to the people around me.(Any one want to be my friend? LOL) I just wonder, if coins could talk, what would be the story? Who in the early 1800's have actually held this coin?Maybe are founding fathers?
This is what excites me the most with coin collecting. But to truly understand, one would have to hold her in his/her hands.Almost like it posseses each individuals soul. It is definately the most interesting coin I have ever held! (And I will not be sending her in to be slabbed, for those of u who might be worried!! LOL.

I just wonder if anyone has a similiar story

She will always be a part of my U.S coin type set(no gold) CLAW
