On the back of a Lincoln cent , is he sitting with his legs straight down or are they crossed ? Mine here on this 1959 his legs are crossed and it just doesn't look like that on any other ones
That's a good question Minnlou. This 1960 clearly shows his legs straight to the floor. But, who am I to say? I looked at SO many coins the other d ay, I SWEAR to you, I saw a pretty lady in a red dress and people partying on the steps! Lol
That's a really tiny area of the die. Several things could have caused that look, wear, die chip or filled die. No way to be sure.
I just can't help but laugh to myself as I picture the real statue of the Lincoln sitting with his legs crossed inside the Lincoln Memorial building. thanks for the mental image! Are his legs crossed at the ankles or ankle on top of knee?
we all kno w he don't have his legs crossed but the 59 reverse only shows one leg clearly when they inhanced the engravers initials very possible they corrected the rest of the obverse .along with .it!
Well I'm glad it made someone laugh but it doesn't look like all of the other ones sorry I won't bother you and your welcome for the mental image .
Yea we love seeing people that pay that much attention to detail. Its invigorating. Keep it up. Some day you will spot something that might be attributed to you.
