Just want some opinions about this coin.

Was going through my 1970 cents, looking for small and large dates and came across this. What do you guys think?

Same, but I thought it was strange that there was no doubling elsewhere.

 

Welcome to Coin Talk. I'd wait for expert opinions but it looks a lot like RPM-001 (I'm usually wrong on these so don't depend on my opinion).

Wow, thank you so much! I've compared the pictures and other similar errors on the coin and yes, it is a RPM-001.

 

Prior to 1989, mintmarks were punched into the die by hand.

 

Repunched mint marks are known as a variety.. A bit different from a mint error.

I can see you are new to this.

 

So if they were hand punched into the Obverse Die that cannot be a Doubled Die Variety. That's what we mean.

 

In 1970 mintmarks were hand punched making this a minor variety. Not a Mint error. Welcome to CT.

 

Looks like you have a Large Date S/S. NGC attribution VP-002. Nice find..

Doubled Die coins are not errors either, they are varieties. The 1955/1955 is a variety.

 

I've been collecting for over 60 years now and have not found an RPM as nice as this one. Nice find!
