I saw this coin and had to have it! I have many many $2 1/2 in my collection, but this is the first Sesquicentennial Commemorative I plan on keeping. I have bought and sold a few before though. This is also the second $2 1/2 I've seen in the ANA style holder, so I had to have it! It is not in hand yet, so I plan on taking better pictures then, but any guesses with the seller's pictures on grade? I know the pictures are not great for guessing, but these usually have a flat worn look to them. The luster appears to be nice though.
Still do not have it in hand... should be soon now. Will post pictures and I will see what I think it should be graded too.
OK, I got the coin in hand.. what are your opinions now? Remember, these are very softly struck. Lots of luster in hand.
I made a new post about today's coin's in the mail.. I will see if I get a few more guesses, then post tonight
Like I said, these coins have a very low relief, and always look weakly struck. I do not know if this is an accurate grade, but the luster tells me it should be higher.
Yeah, I would've guessed in the AU range. I don't know too much about gold coins and this particular coin's strike, but the high points on the obverse figure looks to be worn. But I can tell that some original luster is there.
I thought 63, and now have plans of finding a $2 1/2 dollar gold in the ANA slab and making a nice profit off of Mr JWitten Heheheheheeh Muahahahaah Muaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaahaaaahaa
If only you weren't borrowing your assistant's old Compaq laptop, you would have clearly seen that is was an undergraded XF 45
