Doubt that I would but, what do you think of this? I know buyer beware - Chinese knock offs - etc., still seriously, does anyone think this could be worthwhile?

It is for sale on TopHatter for $24 free shipping Capture.JPG

I could go down to my LCS and buy one for ~$10.

Very common commemorative and most are only worth melt value due to condition.
Like the ones you posted. Age is not always a factor in a coins value.
Both coins you posted look like problem coins to me.
I would only pay $24. for this coin in Uncirculated condition.
I don't think you have to worry to much about fakes with this coin JMO.

My local coin shop has a small box of about 40 of these selling at 12.50 each.

Save your money . There are a whole bunch of less common and More Beautiful early commemoratives. In my opinion most of them are undervalued.

Each photo shows a different coin, which is a big red flag for me. I wouldn't buy a coin unless I knew exactly what I was going to receive. Besides, $24 is too high for a Columbian in this condition as others have pointed out. I recently paid $20 for a BU one at my local coin show.

I paid half that, for one twice as nice at my LCS and i still think I overpaid.

FWIW, that reverse, has the shading you see on many chinese fakes. But the C-fakes have fattened letters, etc which that one is more refined and more possibly real.
