Problem with a lot of big corporations is they don't care about the little guys I know between various sales not just coins I've spent enough to buy an average house with them. And I know in the grand scheme of things I'm small potatoes
I'm very aware of the size of my potatoes, I'm not even a pin sized blip on their radar. However I do expect quality service and some level of integrity when spending my money. I'll even eventually get over this at some point from a purchasing customer perspective, but I don't know about entrusting them with material that isn't even mine.
Last year I submitted some books to H auctions and they lost the rarest books I consigned. They paid me out a fair amount, but who knows what they would have went for? There is a thief working for them in TX. I was also told they were lost in the building and I patiently waited a few months for them to turn up but they never did.
Sorry I'm not a world traveler like yourself, so a little person like my self doesn't know every single auction house in the nation and around the world.
Just gonna put this out there, but it's normally pretty early in a collecting career when you become aware of the auction company being referenced. I understand a novice collector may not know, but that concern is weighted against naming names in a public place. It's not about being a world traveler or knowing every auction house, but coin auction + texas is enough of a hint for most people in this hobby.
