Welcome to CT. Impaired proof. The coin was issued in a proof set, but for whatever reason was cracked out and put into circulation. It's impaired because it was in general circulation. It's a nice find, though. If it were mine, it would be a keeper. I'm hoping it piques your continuing interest in coin collecting.

Yours impaired thus less than the stated value (which is a general value anyways).
Awesome find in the till. This nickel was not meant to be circulated for business. It was specially struck to be admired. It is called a proof strike and easily identifiable by the mirror like finish of the fields of the coin. That one is a keeper!
