    I think this is very poor advice and I strongly urge people to NEVER use gloves when holding a coin. You loose too much dexterity and risk dropping it...and causing damage. Learning to properly handle a coin prevents fingerprinting and minimizes the risk of dropping them.

    Wow.... poor @jtlee321. The guy starts an interesting thread and it needlessly turns into this? No good deed goes unpunished...

    The coin belongs to him. If he wished to take a hammer to it, so be it.

    As for gloves, please... they're unnecessary and can give a false sense of security in addition to the loss of dexterity. If one wishes to use them, it's their choice. If a coin goes flying out of their hands and is damaged, they've only to blame themselves. If one wishes to handle coins without gloves and carelessness leads to damage, the same applies. There is no right or wrong.

    I think what you're calling hairlines are die polish lines. See how they come up to the chin of Kennedy with no space between the design and fields?
