Volteius M. f. 76 BC. with a biga of snakes.&nbsp; Always wanted one of these (but not like this!).&nbsp; It is all copper (bronze?) with what looks like plating - but not silver?&nbsp; Just the rotten core, perhaps.&nbsp; The snakes are hard to see, but the green crud (bronze disease, probably) follows their coils:</p><p><br /></p><p>[ATTACH=full]716411[/ATTACH]</p><p>[ATTACH=full]716412[/ATTACH]</p><p><br /></p><p>One other oddity, not Roman - a Mysia, Pergamon Athena / Owl.&nbsp; I think this one is real, but it has a horrible reverse encrustation that obliterates the owl - possibly removable, but I have no idea how (you can just see the owl&#039;s head peaking out the top of the blob - sorry about my blurry photo).&nbsp; I rather like the obverse with its psychedelic patina:</p><p><br /></p><p>[ATTACH=full]716413[/ATTACH]</p><p><br /></p><p>[ATTACH=full]716414[/ATTACH]&nbsp; </p><p>Finally, the reason I paid $8.50 for this lot:&nbsp; Quinarius 97 BC. Laureate head of Apollo / Victory inscribing shield on trophy.&nbsp; Egnatueleia 1, Syd 588, Crawford 333/1.&nbsp; It has been overly-cleaned and has banker marks, but I was pretty pleased with it nonetheless - from what I&#039;ve seen online these are a bit crude looking in general:</p><p><br /></p><p>[ATTACH=full]716415[/ATTACH][/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
