..i only started doing that after last years rush to get as many 3rd cent. emperors as i could(bidding on a Florian now)..altho they be many, they are still kinda hard to get at (what i consider) a reasonable price.. IMG_0384.JPG IMG_0385.JPG

    Both Serdica?

Although Florian isn't super expensive, there's little reason to invest $50 in a single Florian when that could get you probably 5 decent Probii.

I got mine in a large lot, averaging to around $.80-something cents per.

I have never seen a "decent" Probus for 10 dollars, but then again, I guess that depends on how one defines "decent". :)

This is probably my favorite Probus in my collection:

..i paid $3.00 for the one on the right, and $9.00 for the left one....either i'd consider 'decent'...:)...the one on the left still has some original silvering....the left one's silvering was done by a modern alchemist..:p:D IMG_0389.JPG IMG_0390.JPG

I wish I had pics handy of all the Florians I've owned - I think it is somewhere in the 20-30.

This one ticked all the boxes, and is the only permanent Florian in my collection

Interesting. My interest in Florian stopped when I got my example of the type you found best. We have different obverse legends, bust types and officina. Your coin is better looking since it lost that nasty old silver. I always prefer smooth surfaces like yours. It is a very nice coin.

Probably the most common of types for Florian, but full silvering:
