    Nice web page. Interesting information. I guess I have neglected Jovian for whatever reason and only have one of his more common coin types. I think I may have to rectify this.

    ok, i have to ask this. did jovian have a pronounced lower jaw, or did the engravers just smooth over julian ii beard when doing the dies for jovians coins?

    i still don't have a jovian!

    The real question is: Were any of Jovian's coins minted while he was still alive? Julian was killed in Persia and Jovian was elected there. He only lasted three months, and he never got back to Constantinople. So were these coins minted as memorials or not?

    Jovian lasted eight months, not three, and the mint distribution makes it clear his coinage spread east to west as expected. They are surely not memorial coins.
