The mint has changed the "in stock" date from October to 9/28 for all of you with back orders. I managed to order 2 sets about 10 minutes into the sale period and Fed ex currently says I'll have them by next Friday 9/25 even though they've already shipped! They must be playing better safe than sorry and overestimating the delivery time.

I'm new here and must say it's great to see all the different opinions on this and other topics. Lots of good posts!

If I can sell 2 that will pay for all of them. I will keep what is left. When I bought the gold it was for our investment group. We won't be doing it that way anymore. We are happy purchasing other coins at 2-4% above spot. Will avg. down from that site.
With this, more of a retirement thing, or most likely, passed down to my girl. She is a saver and only 17, so they will be around a long long time...

That picture of Kennedy on the $1 almost makes him look like an old man...... how terrible.

I agree, the Kennedy $1 coin is awful. The silver medal image is way better.

I once said something to a photographer about a terrible picture. His response was "The camera only takes a picture of what it sees."

Hope the quality on everyone else's medals are better than mine, both are going back. One Medal has a spot on the reverse the other looks like hairline scratches on the obverse. I'm not a very good photographer sorry. At first I thought what I was seeing was on the lens so I opened them and what I was seeing was not on the lens. The RP Dollars both looked great, no problems. After finding the ripples on the 5 oz. quarter from 2010 I am looking at items from the mint a bit closer as soon as I get them.

Can you please point out the hairline scratches on the obverse like you did for the reverse.

Just my opinion, maybe all of them look like this, but it just does not look as smooth as other parts of the coin. If this is normal I don't like it.

If it bothers you, you must send it back..........

Ok, I checked both of my silver medals and they both have the same marks as yours. I would advise against sending them back. I've seen graded "70" coins/medals that still have slight imperfections. Enjoy, there are a lot of people that wish they had a set. Just my thoughts.

An addendum to my previous post: Although I have the same markings on the obverse, I do not have the mark that you do on the reverse.

It looks like there is another one next to the N in the second picture with an arrow..

WOW... A scratch that is going to come thru on most, some, ALL ? Kind of an imperfection that will make a difference ?
If everyone they receive for grading has this same scratch and it proves to be a 69... I am guessing that if some came through without that they could grade 70 ? Making them much more valuable ?

Is this how the grading game is done ? And if Everyone that comes out of the mint have the same scratch is the grading company forced via pressure from the community to regrade them to a 70 ?

Or is it always at the discretion of the grading person, or company ?
