Jefferson with PMD ?

    Hello all. Any ideas what the attached Jefferson nickle is caused from? Never seen this before.

    My guess is someone had a torch lighter and got the coin begin melting. Not 100% positive, but not sure what else would allow the metal to be wavy like that without marks.

    Electrical wires attached to it?
    Maybe a large electric current was passed through it.

    It was in some things from my late FIL. Not sure but I think he got it in tip money in Vegas. El Rancho fire maybe. Will a fire get hot enough to do that?
