I’m nowhere near an expert. I’ve been looking for this variety for years and haven’t found the high D or the example that you posted. Here’s some pictures with grids. Your coin: High D:
I think Jim’s specimen is still a collectible variety and while not the highest D, population will dictate the premium. Maybe there are fewer and the premium is set higher as a result. I’ve not read anything that suggests the populations for each. Has anyone else?
Going only by experience, I’ve never found a high D, and I’ve never seen @JCro57 example. This example may be rarer?
I researched this a while back but didn’t note the population numbers being offered. Would be interesting to find out.
speaking of which I PMed him a few times over the past couple of months with no luck. Hoping he’s on a break.
I haven't yet, but will take a look over my inventory of Jeffersons. Who knows, It is a neat variety, or should I say two.
I was thinking about the arbitrary population in the article. That may be a high guesstimate. I haven’t kept track of how many 1975Ds I’ve come across but it’s safe to say several hundred/thousands relative to known quantities of other dates I have.
Good post to help educate those of us that aren't real knowledgable on Jefferson's. Thanks for the post.
I feel huge. I knew about this coin a long time ago. Guess you members need to. Only kidding. Your all great
