It seems there were no slaves in Jamestown until 1619, but they were there eventually. Nobody said that the coin had to represent only the conditions in place at the actual year of founding, so I don't necessarily feel it is historically inaccurate.

It's kind of a trip that the mint refers to the coin as showing "faces of diversity." My guess is that the black slaves present at Jamestown had absolutely no interest in being there and the Indians probably weren't all that thrilled about the new settlers either. For the government to look back and give revisionist spin as this grand melting pot is pretty funny and pretty PC.

I like the gold coin much better with the settlers and the Indians poised in a kind of face-off.

I will not buy that !

How many times have you said you will not make a purchase or from a particular vendor. We all just do not fit with what is available.
I was wondering how the Little Rock Desegrigation Siver Dollar might fly. James Town really means little to a whole lot as some have expressed, but it is selling. The silver dollar might have attraction to a large spectrum. Maybe a gold piece might have been in order. A lot of people have given their all for civil Rights in our country. It might really strike a nerve in a lot of hearts .

My $1 Uncirculated order has a shipping date of Feb 5, 2007 on it. So we may be getting them sooner than expected.

Wow, I just looked at mine and the Proofs shipped out today...

    JAMESTOWN 400TH ANNIV SILVER $1 PROOF 2 $35.00 $70.00 2 units shipped on 01/15/2007
    JAMESTOWN 400TH ANNIV SILVER $1 UNC 2 $33.00 $66.00 2 units backordered. Expected to ship on 02/05/2007.

They even gave me a tracking #!!!

Looks like I got the same on the UNC's...

Still trying to decide if I should order one more of each....

Not that I can always afford it, but I like to get everything in 3s.... One for my daughter, one for me and one to sell if the price goes way up or to replace one of the other two if something stupid happens...
