Does my farthing look like a counterfeit? It was dug I’m told but I feel the patina and condition doesn’t really match for a dug coin. I know these were also counterfeited back in the day too. C6AA4A34-BAD4-4625-AB71-DAAF1D261F00.jpeg B7668289-2397-4D9B-AAB1-E43E8AFDB98E.jpeg

I think it's real. 16-17mm? Medal alignment? I doubt it's a modern copy anyway, as it's a common type and inexpensive even in much better condition. The punctuation is correct and the crown and harp look right. It's just a bit off-centre but genuine farthings could be. These were quite heavy too and I've seen similar patinas. So I don't think it's a contemporary counterfeit either.

It would be Lennox, Everson Type 2 (No 26a), Peck Type 3b (BMC 58), privy mark fusil both sides, 5 jewels on crown, eagle-headed harp with 6 strings. FRA:ET HIB:REX (Reverse 2, no stop after REX). Minted 1616.

I have a Lennox Type 2, but with flower privy mark, to compare.
