I found this going through some bank box re-rolls a couple of hours ago, first roll halfway through. I’ve been naming coins since 1969 when I started collecting at eight. This planchet anomaly I call “Jail Bird Abe” of course you want the line to run as vertical as possible. I would have had to have to have had 3 like this for anything good in a trade back then. We didn’t care if it was on a semi key date or not.
Neat, and for what it's worth, the term has also been applied to memorial cents displaying clash marks of the memorial's columns.
Yup this name is just mine from way back when before push button phones, the internet or seat belts. Oh ya also before slabbed coins
Yup got a whole fleet of um. These are all die clashes that are different degrees of manifestation of the Jail bar effect. This is just what I found in the last Two months!
You gotta a coin stuck in that little plastic rectangle that wants out I can hear him screaming from here in Seattle! It looks nice but I can’t see it
Did somebody say Jail bird ? lol Back in the 90's I could have sold this coin for $90.00, but I chose to keep because of the artistic artsy/craftsy thing I did with this 2X2. I cut out this egg being jailed from an ad in a magazine and I exacto'd the jail bars out very carefully then added the shadow to the bars on the bottom. then I reduced it down to a 2X2 size and then I photo copied it onto a overhead clear transparency. then added a craft brad to hold it in place. so you can move the bars out of the way to see the coin. I think it turned out so cool.
