On the way back in, just inside the auction room, I run into ( and I'm not name dropping, it is part of the story ) Rick Snow and Brian Wagner. As I stop to chat with them, Rlm starts looking to the back of the room, and I think he is looking at me, but we cant make eye contact. I start waving my hand in a circular fashion, saying " come here RLM " silenty to myself. Meanwhile, I forget there is an auction going on. I am in a bidding war and dont even know it. The auctioneer see's me waving "come on...come on" and keeps increasing my bid. Super a#^ expensive coin, and I keep waving " come on"........finally ( totally oblivious to me ) I win the lot. Rick nudges me...." they need your bidder number" I say "what" and the whole room is staring at this guy ( me ) who just bought the rarest freakin large cent on the planet. When it sinks in, I wither faster than the Wicked Witch of the West when they poured the bucket of water on her. Oh My God, I am in trouble. I bought what? I BOUGHT WHAT ??? Moral of the story.
