Long's "Every man a king" campaign called for the redistribution of income and wealth. On August 26, 1933, Long was attending a function at the highbrow Sands Point Country Club on Long Island, New York. Long was drunk and while he was relieving himself in the mens room, he did so on the pantleg of another man. Long emerged from the restroom with a black eye. Later the friends of the man who punched Long in eye had this medal made by the Medallic Art Company. At a black tie affair, his friends awarded him an example in gold. A few more were made in silver and an unknown number where made in bronze, which is shown below. This is called "the toilet seat medal," and it is listed among the 100 greatest medals.
