That may be Doug, but not like it is now. Look at my new Currency thread, it shrinks them so much I debated removing the thread. I know that in theory you can click on them and they will get bigger, but I've found that doesn't always work and has on occasion locked up my computer. It's to the point with me with that that I just don't bother unless it's something I REALLY want to see.
Sorry, but those pictures look exactly like they did when I joined. It is not just in theory you can click on them and they will get bigger, but it is a fact. And I have never ever had any one of them lock up my computer not heard of anyone else having such a problem. Never heard of it hanging anyone's computer. If id did not hang my original computer, I have no idea what else you could have wrong with your computer.
I don't know much about computers at all. I never had one in school or one for my use until 6 years ago. Then I needed to read instructions to learn how to turn it on. But, how does writing one's own code for pics work ? How do you make it compatible with all the different sites ? And why not write a code that makes the pic bypass the reduction process ? Or could you write a code that makes them larger after the size reduction ? Just wondered
While it's true that we have had photos shrink to fit the threads for several years now, after the update it has changed the way its done. I haven't had much feedback on this, and all the other comments have been positive. Having said that, I'm not married to this one way of doing it, there are a couple of other options. It would help if you could link me to the post with the images you're talking about so I can see what's wrong.
You have to look at all sides Billy - for people on Dial-up a resizer really can save the day as at times he helps the image load faster. There have been times when Ruben would post pic' that were so large I would have taken all day for them to load on dial-up access. Speedy
Darn. I didn't realize that we still had folks on here who use dial-up still.... I should have included a photo of a rotary phone in my last post and headlined it as "Communication" In all seriousness, would it be helpful to post a poll-thread that asks how folks routinely connect to the internet? Just a thought...
There are some interesting facts about people who visit CoinTalk on dial up. They're less likely to be first time visitors. 43% of visitors on dial up are visiting CoinTalk for the first time, whereas 52% overall are first time visits. Dial up visitors spend about 20% more time on the site than the average. Since yesterday, we've had 183 people visit CoinTalk using dial up.
Hotels charge for dial up services now and it's really expensive to use. Today it seems most municipalities offer free Wii Fi. I think they leave theirs public to eliminate the pass keys needed by employees ?
Heck, forget his big honkin' image files... there are times when just plain old Ruben tests the system... :goofer:
But are these dial up users spending more time on the site due to their connection speed keeping them shackled to CT? And how about this, is this also because dial up has them stuck here since yesterday trying to download threads, upload pics and get anything done? I'm just joking around with you with these questions, they are not meant to be serious.
...and maybe those hairs fell out of Ruben's nose while he was taking the pictures... yucko! :rolling:
"Wii Fi"... what's that, something you dance around on in front of your TV with a remote control wand to stay in shape while you surf the web? LOL! :goofer:
I'm not sure which part of the country you're from... left coast perhaps? Here where I live on the east cost, I know of only one Municipal government that offers free wi-fi, and it only spans a small portion of the city... and it certainly doesn't reach into most people's homes. Folks have to either sign-up cable/dsl/dial-up/dedicated circuit for their homes, and/or they cruise the coffee bars. And I haven't come across any private homes with wi-fi who hasn't locked them down tight -- and that's even while checking with sniffers.
