Excuse me, but what is a beer mat?

Good luck with your decision. It is hard letting go of something that has been such a passion. Onward and upward, with beer mats!

    Serious question:

Assuming one doesn't need the money, is passing a collection to an interested heir considered foolish or risky?

I see some nice collections on sale and I wonder whether the kids were bypassed.

Then, again, if the kids weren't interested, I guess it would be better to have interested collectors gain the collection (for a price, of course).

A little sad to hear about letting go of a collection, but you do what needs to be done. Maybe you can teach others about coins? I'm pretty sure there are coin clubs that needs experienced collectors to teach newbies.

Unless in the unlikely event an heir was quite interested in the hobby, it would be wise to disperse of your holdings before your demise.
