This loupe is on my Amazon wishlist. I take the majority of my coin closeup pictures with my current loupe. But it is a task to try to get the proper lighting angle. I hope this Lupa will help!
But if you've been "drinking" while wearing one on a lanyard, you would be looped while louped. I think that was the nexus of the song...
Just make sure it is a triplet (containing three lenses, not the "name") lens. Cheaper loupes only have two lenses and only the very center is clear. The outer area is usually blurry. Three lens loupes are more expensive.
What I find works just as well is the eyepiece from a rifle scope. Plenty of cheap junk scopes around.
A loupe is a tool and it advisable to buy the best quality. Loupes with triplet lens can be purchased from 10x to 30x magnification. Triplet lens also correct for spherical and chromatic aberrations. For a number of years I was a practicing gemologist (GG), gemmolgist (FGA) for our British friends and I relied on a 10x loupe for all initial examinations of gem and mineral materials. I still have my 10x loupes and I now use them to examine coins. All gem grading was based upon what could be seen at 10x.
My goto loupe is the Zeiss 3x 6x 9x Aplanatic Achromatic loupe. Not quite the 10x magnification most use, but it has great distortion free edge to edge viewing.
Don't the people who use these everyday refer to them as glass. Where my glass... Let me get my glass... Or is that an after 5 thing I've been looking for an easily concealed carry glass for cheap. Anyone know of Anything, my searches don't turn up much. I would like something thin, 10x or better. Would like vintage, expensive glass but whatever works to see small Karat markings on jewelry at sales without looking like I'm looking for a deal. I have this one coming just because it was $10 and looked like someone else used it regularly.
