How about an advance... HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! :eating::eat::eating: :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb: :high5::high5::high5:
Ok, first I want to thank Ben for the last contest. It was interesting and it has stimulated a good conversation in a new thread that I wish more would participate in. "Coin Grading Standards for TPG Companies" This contest is great because everyone has an equal chance regardless of your knowledge level regarding collecting coins. This site is a great source of information and feedback on coins, paper currency, and the hobby in general. Thank you everyone for your help and time... Darryl
Not such a "Merry Christmas" here on the homestead. Had to sell my entire collection. But I shall return! THis time with a new appreciation of coin collecting, i.e. what to buy, what to pass on. I managed to hang on to my favorite 2 Morgans though! Hope all my fellow numismatists have a great and prosperous New Year!
OK, I'm in...! But, I think I'm going to try to guess what the prize will be. The clue is that it's "yellow".... HMMMM... OK, I think I know! It's that 5th Anniversary 9/11 token they're offering for sale on TV for the low, low price of ONLY $29.95!!! NO? Well, I'm stumped!!!
Thanks you for the contest. Doug, the question you had asked about the first nation to created folding currency. I would have to say it had to be China around the 1200's. China made their currency from bark and there are some surviving examples from the 1300's on Mulberry bark from the Ming dynasty. As for the first action all that come to mind is The United States around 1880's. Thank again Lou
the time it takes to cross the lakes is better spent inside the tent but the tent is meant for the ground some guy made it into a raft and drowned
