So basically since the beginning of the year, I've been kind of on a Greek buying binge . Picked up many different types, even threw in a couple of Roman provincial/Greek imperials into the mix. All part of my master plan to expand further into the Greek world . Two of them you guys might recognize as former coins of a well-known member here. My trip took me even to northern India, a place never touch on within my collection, to meet a couple of Indo-Greeks and an Indo-Scythian. Wow! That's some binge!! What a great assortment. Favorites: Philip III AE Herkles/bow case and club-- well struck, well centered, well preserved. Much nicer than most of this general type of Macedonian AE. Septimius Severus-- I'm a sucker for these large provincial bronzes. I think you need to double-check the ID of the larger one. That reverse figure's garment has a peplum and I see wings. The mint city and reverse legend don't match. (Maybe it's a copy & paste error?) Menander I and Antiochus VII-- great portraits They're all wonderful in some way-- the Heiron II portrait, the graceful Euboean, the detailed gorgon on that Macedonian shield, the nice patina on the Gela...
Great assortment ValiantKnight, some real eye candy among this diverse lot, especially like your Antiochus VII. Don't have to many Greek coins myself but have one of these Perge types.
Yup, copy and paste. Copied the Marcianopolis and meant to replace with the correct info but somehow forgot. Also realized I forgot the obverse legends for them. Thanks for the heads up TIF! And thanks everyone for the kind words!
