Ok, these are preliminary photos, I confess I was coin roll hunting again today. I was gonna repent and not confess, but this beauty showed up on top of the stack. Saw it was an 83 that needed to be weighed. The scale is immaterial, The shattered reverse, and near shattered die obverse, with a retained Cud. I had to tell my friends. Lets put it this way I would have had to check it for a doubled ear anyways.
I was surprised, this was a fed Loomis roll. There were also two minor RPM's and a struck thru out of the $5 I searched.
I will try to get some better photos, The die cracks do join, very minor though. This is when I wish I had a digital scope.
I found a reference This one is a little earlier than the one I found. Obverse: the die crack runs down the ear to jacket. Then disappears at the field. Reverse: The crack runs up the pillars to the cornice on both sides. Also runs the bottom of the steps. http://cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-cent-spike-heads-1980-1989/ SKH-1c-1983-03 Images are courtesy of Larry Peterson DIE MARKERS: OBVERSE – II-F-MULTI LIBERTY DIE BREAK REVERSE – MULTIPLE DIE CRACKS. I see the crack and a tiny break at the bottom. I can't tell if that's a break in the hair or just the hair, I need better pictures to tell it.
Hey Eddie I put the coin away, I just don't have the ability to show how far the cracks go. If you look at the reference in the last post. This one is a bit further along than what it shows. I will pull it out later to see if I can get some photos for ya.
