Unfortunately, this type of thing will continue as long as there are buyers who want to throw their money away without learning anything about what they're spending it on.

Everyone here knows my feeling about a seller's culpability and responsibility for their listed items. If a seller doesn't know about an item, they have a responsiblility to learn about it or at least do enough research so that they can identify what they are selling. If they are not going to do this, they need to offer an unconditional guarantee including refunding s/h. No discussion. That is the price they should pay for not doing their homework.

However, the buyer has a responsibility also. As a buyer, I don't trust the seller to do all of my research for me. If I choose not to research something before I bid on it and I get burned, then that was my own fault and all the whining in the world will not make it someone else's.

Regardless of which end you are on, there is responsibility involved. It's never a good idea to take the lazy way out. Someone is going to lose and usually it's you.

    JMHO but proven through experience.

Pathetic! Shame on ebay, and shame on the crooked seller

Pathetic! Shame on ebay! And shame on this crooked seller! Capitalism at its worst!

Glad to see you there as a watchdog susanlynn9

Unfortunately, the ones I report are only a "drop in the bucket" compared to what's out there. Might be able to actually accomplish something if I could spend 24/7 just reporting

I think Ebay should pay you for that. ;)

Unfortunately they don't pay the people who do it for them officially either.

It's okay though. As long as I'm getting some response and seeing some results, I don't mind taking the time (I just have to find time to work in between :D )

Please keep us informed of your results concerning the Savannah Scammer.
There are a lot of people interested in the outcome.

I definitely will. I'm tracking her auctions and it will probably take a lot more being reported before we see an actual result.

    I'd say that's a safe bet, Susan.

FWIW, I also reported the auction to eBay about the same time as, and independently of Susan. We'll see if anything happens.

I think it's worth a lot. The more complaints they get, the stronger the influence to get them to take action. Thank you and please continue to report as many fraudulent auctions as you can :D

I'll tell you what it's worth to me, Fred.
It means that you care enough about the hobby to try and do some good by taking action.
I congratulate you on your efforts, sir.

Unfortunately, this is an "eBay darling". Her one month "final value fees" (eBays share of the take) would go a long way toward releiving the national budget deficit. Sadly, no amount of "reporting" is going to make eBay kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Even if this particular deal falls through, the "coin" will simply be relisted until it finds a home with a happy customer.

Again, thanks for your efforts. You have joined the ranks of dozens (maybe hundreds) of others, none of whom have had any sucsess.

Jody, I don't know that I'd say we've had no success. Yes, it's painstaking and yes, the progress has been slow. But I know for a fact that more and more of the reports that I have submitted are getting action. I find that encouraging enough to make it worth the fight. It's not all bad....it's just slow :)

    Susan,

I'm speaking in reference to this particular Power Seller.
If you can stop her from hawking fakes, you will have accomplished something no one else has been able to do.

    Good luck. (you'll need it)

    Well said, Susan.
That shows a lot of spunk. ;)

Just remember, Pam doesn't play nice. She can get downright nasty when it comes to someone messing with her money.

Be careful, my friend. Don't want to see you get burned.

I've identified three more of her possible fakes/copies on eBay: 3954016894 (ended), 3954017042 (ended; both are early 1800's "tokens", so she might get away with it on these); 3953674999 (1780 Maria Theresa in BU condition; yeah, right.). I noticed that a few of her Morgan copies that I saw earlier have either ended or maybe have been pulled - I couldn't find them in her completed auctions although I could have missed them and I didn't see any in her active auctions. I didn't act quickly enough to do a Save To when I saw them. However, there's dozens or hundreds of "estate coins" that she's sold in the past two days. Here's more suspicious auctions: 3953676509, 3953676803, 3952881882, 3953771124 I just cherrypicked some of the higher auctions. It would take someone with a lot faster connection than I have to look at them all. Some of her coin auctions actually look legitimate, albeit with no description and poor pictures.

She needs to have her wings clipped.

    Almost bed time in Arizona.

Here are the links to the auctions I reported. I stuck to replicas without COPY or REPLICA in the auction as this is in direct violatioin of eBay rules:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3953616316
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3954017386
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3954017270
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3954017042
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3954016894
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3954016765

I thought these were the best ones to report since they each have "100 Mil" written on the holders, showing that they are definitely replicas.

MorganFred, the ones you're looking for are in here so you can save the links.

If I did my math right, this seller needs at least 25 negs to drop down to 98% positive. I once almost got burned by one of these types of dealers (high sales with the odd lemon tossed in. In my case, the seller tried to resell a piece I bought that was "lost in the mail". And they relisted it only after I asked about when it was sent...)
