I picked up a few of these for 25 cents a piece this weekend. I now have almost the full circulation set. I think these are one of the most beautifully designed coins. Does anyone else collect these? If so, let's see your flying naked ladies!

I think we aren't supposed to call them "birds" any more. ;)

    It isn't a coin.
    It isn't Italian.

    chrsmat71 I LIKE TURTLES!

Here is a nude fellow with wings that I assume would rather be flying, but someone has him tied up. Or, maybe he is in to that type of thing.

It's a 70mm bronze medal designed by Rau to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the independence of Belgium.

I'm reporting everyone for even mentioning the words nude and nudity :muted:

Mr. P., please be aware that it would be very easy for someone to photoshop one of the images of you at the beach with a young blonde hanging on your shoulder.

Naturally, it wouldn't be me. I'm no good at that kind of stuff.

Where do you get those chain-mail blouses? I need to do some back-to-school shopping for my daughter...

I have several of the Italian "Flying Lady" coins:

The "flying lady" as a "cover girl":

The coin was recognized as far back as 1948 when it appeared on the cover of a stamp dealer's foreign coin book:

    S. Kellogg Stryker's Premium Catalog of Modern Foreign Coins - Cover

The book is now on the Newman Numismatic Portal of St. Louis, MO at the following link:

That was an interesting flip through. I wish I could pay the prices in that book now!

Well you didn't have to go and show us this...ugh.

The depiction looks like an old woman who looks like an old man (with breasts) who looks like an old woman.

obverse solo.jpg Another flying nekkid lady (there, I didn't use the word naked or nude). It's only the obverse (uniface, so didn't bother posting).
