Italian Coins

    BUONO DA DUE LIRE 1927.
    According to the GIGANTE catalogo (for Italian Coins) it's considerated R2 very rare. Mintage 1.631.500, in VF aprox 80€ UNC 4000

    Because of the rarity and the excessive softness of the metal used to mint this coin is hardly available to the state mint (Gigante, Monete Italiane dal 700 ad oggi (12ºedition), 2004)

  5. Love seeing these coins. Although my heritage is many things, I most closely associate with the Italian side of my family.

    I have a comparitivly small handfull of Italian coins compared to England and Germany, two other places my roots trace back to, but here are some scans from my collection...

    I am normally a fan of Aluminum coins, but these aluminum Italian coins sure have taken a beating before I got them, all of which came from bulk bins or lots

    Brass or brass colored coins just don't scan well...sorry about that!

    1000 lire 1978, weight - 14,6 g. Silver 0,835. Pope Ioannes Paulus I (he was ruler of Vatican City during 33 days). He was a good man ("Smiling Pope"). In my country people supposed, that someone killed him.
