Not giving up on nickels yet... but the nickel album is almost full so may also dip into dimes soon. Seems less to find but hey, maybe less people are looking for precisely that reason lol. And have been looking for an excuse to say "it's dime time!" for years... now's my chance! So might get a Roosevelt dime album to start trying to fill for the fun of it. Besides filling the album, planning on saving: Anything not a Roosevelt dime, on general principle Any silver (1946-1964) 1996-W (rare, NIFC) 2009-P & 2009-D (relatively low mintage) 2024-P & 2024-D (relatively low mintage) proofs & errors Anything else I should keep my eye out for, you think?
I do in fact own a raw 1996-W dime that fills the space in my US coin type set for the clad Roosevelt dime (figure may as well put the best thing I could find in there). Not found another yet but I've not actively done dime hunting yet... will probably do so soon, likely early next year.
Jefferson Series is probably the easiest (not easy) series to build from pocket change and CRH. Someone suggested the Roosevelt series was too, but with all the silver stacking I'd think it's probably not possible to complete a set. That said, it's a heck of a challenge. I have circulation sets for Jefferson, Lincoln, and Buffalo. Even one for V Nickels, but that's harder than Buffalo by several factors. Still, I wanted to know what was floating around in circulation and having albums made this easier to organize.
Modern Roosevelt dies are notoriously overworked, resulting in a lot of die chips, cracks and cuds. I don't know how collectible they are (probably not much) but some fun things to look for when searching. BTW, I just found my first two 2024 dimes in change recently. I completed an uncirculated set of silver Roosevelts years ago and my OCD has me trying to keep the series going
Don’t worry Sal, his magic works and he can get in and out without your knowing it. He does it every year and my place and I don’t have a fireplace either.
