I loved your image @green18 of shoveling manure against the tide, but I find myself doing it anyway. The little thorn in my side (that I allow to continue to bother me) is "err." It is seldom that someone pronounces it correctly; even TV news readers say "error." I keep "shoveling" even though the tide keeps rolling in, and I am not fooling myself, thinking the situation will change.

I don't want to be a jerk about correct grammar, spelling and pronunciation but I think going with the flow (@green18's tide) is not helpful. I will try to gracefully keep shoveling .

Instead of error, use the word mistake. You mentioned " Quote correct grammar, spelling and pronunciation UNQUOTE " , but you forgot about spelling...lol

I think you misunderstood my point. I could have been clearer. It is this: people say "To ERROR is human" instead of pronouncing it "To ERR is human." Or did I misunderstand you?
