Why though? I like the coin a lot. A lot of you seem to be pushing me to send it back when you didn't even ask if I like it or not.

I think it's a great coin plus, I really don't feel like waiting weeks or months for a grey sheet priced certified example. Not on this coin.

 

then be happy with the coin you have. That's great! We only suggested returning it because you asked our opinion and the consensus was that it was over-graded and overpriced. The fact remains that only the owner needs to love a coin, the rest is discussion.

 

Oh yeah, this coin looks nothing like the picture. I wish I could personally let you hold onto it for 5 minutes or more so you can see it in hand. It really is a nice one in my opinion and I'm not sad or upset one bit in its quality. It's the grade / advertised grade that gets me.

 

I think that some of us have advised you to return the coin now because you were talking about potentially filing a lawsuit against the seller for misrepresentation of the coin. Maybe I misinterpreted what was going on there though???

 

Well no, some advised me to return the coin well before my threat of a lawsuit to GSC but the suggestions did amplify by others when I made that bold statement.

I just didn't see if it was this terribly undergraded why GSC should get away with that. The coin is still gorgeous to me, but why should I let GSC continue this type of practice? That's not fair and it disenfranchises the consumer.

 

If you want to tilt at that windmill, then be our guest, Don Quixote, but understand that many others do that exact thing every day to absolutely no avail.

I am not concerned by those marks. I think they are consistant with a coin this worn. If the fields looked worse then I would be concerned or if it was glossy looking, but I don't see either of those issues.

 

The coin appears to be cleaned based on the picture...the eBay ad made it appear that the coin was problem free. So, based on that...I would return it. if you are happy with the coin then by all means keep it.

I'm sorry I assumed you didn't like it. I based my assumption on the following post where you refer to the sellers as frauds who doctor photos. Based on that, I thought you were unhappy with the deal:

You know that I have a strong detector for when I feel people are just trying to pull my chain just to pull it. If you're not, I'm sorry but after going through the baloney tmoney just put me through, I really don't know what people's motives are.

Anyway,
I brought this coin to three coin shops today(one of the owners was an NGC grader) and all of them thought the coin was a gorgeous VG example. They did not agree it was a Fine but they all unanimously thought no less than VG and I should send it to NGC > PCGS. When the cleaned question came up, not one of them said it was cleaned, they saw it as totally legit.

So I don't know, 3 vs 1 . I'm just saying..

Edit: I did think they were frauds that doctored photos strictly based on all the evidence you guys on CT gave me that the coin was a G and it was this and that and that and this.. So yeah, I freaked when I heard all this because I couldn't believe GSC would do that.. So my tiff is with the overstating of the grade, not the coin itself.

Absolutely, but I'm sorry but I'm just still coming off that stupid tiff I had with tmoney. But yes, you're right, let's try to move forward I guess.

Well, pictures can always be deceiving. I can't make a completely accurate judgment about your coin through pictures...you have to have it in hand. It's entirely possible that the coin was not cleaned but based on the pictures it appears to have been.

As far as the grade, I go by the ANA standards. Grading standards have changed over the years and the TPGs all grade differently. Being a key date, this coin might slab as a VG...if it does, then great. Based on the ANA standards (which IMHO are strict standards)...this coin doesn't make VG. NGC's standards might say otherwise.

At the end of the day, if you are happy with your coin then who cares what others think. I personally think it is a great example of a key date.

Sounds like a plan to me. If you want to send it to a TPG then send it away. I would personally send it to PCGS over NGC...but that's just me. Either are fine.
