What is annoying is I went back to the seller's photo and big surprise, those lines on the eagle do not show on their photo. BNB, you take a good photo (much better than the seller's) -- those parallel marks would concern me.

If those pics are accurate I have seen coins bagged for less as cleaned that's for sure, but we all know how pictures are...

Agreed, there is a good chance the coin would not be graded. And if it was graded, G6 at the best. And that's by TPG standards.

Here is a full page of the same coin graded G6 by TPG's - G6

And here are 2 full pages of those graded VG8 by TPG's. Every single one of them has full rims. BNB's coin does not have full rims - VG8

    G or VG.

    Hello again BNB,
This is one of the photos of an NGC G6. I think yours has slightly better rims & lighter scratches. Your coin may not technically be a VG but I'm still thinking your coin could make it into an NGC VG holder.
    Very best regards,

The marks on the reverse jumped out right away to me as well. I think the chances are good that the coin would come back as cleaned if it was sent to a TPG. If it weren't for those, I'd say that is a very nice 21-D.

I'm taking another set of pictures.

Let's get a second opinion here.

Edit: Nevermind.. Those strokes are still on the eagle's breast.

    How does that indicate cleaning?

It doesn't, and I don't think it is.

    I say G-8 at best

By the way, I'm sending it into PCGS next week so let's see what happens. I'm doing it through a friend's account.

It indicates that some sort of harsher then usual abrasion happened to the coin at some point other then normal wear... It might or might not be an indication of a cleaning... but the TPG's will usually call it cleaned because there isn't another explanation besides possibly calling it scratched.

I predict the coin will be graded G-6.

Man, I hope you're right because I'm getting ready to call my laywer on GSC if that's true. Talk about a HUGE epic fail on their part for overstating/doctoring their photo.

Have you contacted them and let them know that your not happy with it?? That will be easier and cheaper im sure. They will claim that grading is subjective and then probably give you a refund... so why not just contact them and arrange a refund?

I contacted them once, no reply. I'm sure I will call them but this is totally unethical of them to do and I don't want it to happen to others..

You will spend a lot of money and, if you are lucky, get your money back. If you simply return it through PayPal, you are guaranteed you will get your money back - 100% of it likely plus shipping.

Right but these frauds need to be put out to pasture if you ask me.. And yes, I say frauds because the evidence points to the doctoring of their coin photos with this live example posted here.

photos, just like grading, are also subjective... things like lighting and camera angle can hide stuff like this... whether they mean to or not... hard to prove...

Good luck proving it. Returning it and leaving negative feedback will hurt him more and cost you less.

Well, I don't know but I think we should consider it(or at least if you've been scammed by GSC) because I know some of you are probably very rarely wrong giving snap grades so I trust your word over theirs. I'm still getting it graded with PCGS though .
