For "general" insured amounts ... I stole this from https://www.safeandvaultstore.com/pages/burglary-ratings Also, keep in mind there's two types of TL safes. Slab steel safes and the box in a box with concrete stuff in between and high density composites. The really big safes you see are slab steel and high density composites. FYI, my insurance company had a short list of C allowed safes. Such as AMSEC. But were more open to the TLs from any major manufacturer.
How ya been Green? I still grab a classic commem. on occasion when I see one that I like. I hope that you haven't completed your set yet, as I hope that I still have competition, keeps things interesting.
Forgive me.......which collection was that? The 144? Ain't no way in heaven I'm gonna come close........
We'll never amount to anything on those bloody registry set sites.......wait a bloody second. This is personal. It's my own private collection, and I ain't sharing it with anyone, except maybe friends...... The journey continues.
I don't have my collection insured. When it got to the point that I started thinking about that I realized I could buy a safe deposit box for what it would cost to insure it and they've got better security and better fire resistance for their vault than I could ever replicate in my own house. I do miss having the coins at-hand 24/7 but good pictures help make up for that.
Yeah, but .... I live in a suburban area. But when we loose power, we're off the grid !! I also have some solar/battery power too but I don't count that as it only can power the furnace and bathroom lights. lol
I have never known anyone that filed a claim. Could you share the process. I'll guess you must show them invoices?
I was shopping for insurance years ago. Farmers wanted 2 or 3% of value per year. They also wanted a complete list and I would have to update that list if I bought or sold a coin. Sounded like a lot of work. Hugh Wood wanted only .3% and I only had to list any single coin with a value over 10K. I don't have anything of that value so, no list to worry about. They would only cover bullion up to 10% of the policy. That was not a problem for me. I had to join the ANA but I'm glad I did. That let me send coins to NGC without joining NGC.
No insurance on my collection, but higher value coins are in a safety deposit box, and I have receipts and photos. I realize that the bank does not insure contents, but I cannot go through life worrying about low probability events.
I did not have to show them any invoices. I filed a police report and listed the coins I could remember in the report. They told me it's good to keep a collection inventory, which I do, but it sounded like I could also generalize on the police report and they would cover that too. They didnt hassle with me or anything. I was happy with them.
