I don&#039;t know. But here&#039;s the thing - does it matter ? I mean the coins aren&#039;t turning the weird colors when they are left alone, they only turn the weird colors after being rinsed in acetone ! So whether it&#039;s the mysterious something, or the acetone, that causes it is immaterial - the point is it happens sometimes, but only after acetone is used. </p><p><br /></p><p>My suggestion is simple, don&#039;t use acetone on copper and risk it.
