If you follow Andrew289's advice, be sure to post only your over-magnified pictures. That way the unknowledgeable EBayers may not realize just how insignificantly small the die chip is.

    That's funny, hontonai.

The presidential coins are one of the worst manufactured items the US Mint has ever done. These little flukes some collectors deem as errors are worthless in my opinion. However since this is a new series only time will tell how much someone is willing to pay for such slop.

Come on guys, I agree that I am not a fan of the Presidential dollars, but the newbie poster is being serious.

When we get new folks here I do TRY to be serious since they are excited and all, but aside from throwing water on their excitement, we should be encouraging them to continue in the hobby--
    not ridicule them.

That said: NO, I do not plan on buying any of them.
However, I did get a good deal on my car insurance from Geico (actually not, but it seemed to fit.)

Well I also think we should be honest and not placate those looking for answers. In all honesty let's admit the Presidential coins are not the best place to focus. Also most of them are nicked up, scuffed up trash.

    special sets

Went to the bank today for rolls of half dollars. They had these special packets of John Adams dollars for $7 each. Very nice folder with big picture of him and all the history. Sealed inside were 2 Adams presidential coins. I probably would pay the inflated $7 fee but the coins themselves were pathetic. One had a big orange spot which may be someone's fingerprint. The other was just a common scraped, nicked and banged around hunk of garbage. Shame on them for making such a nice presentable and historical folder and filling it with common junk coins. It would be a nice item for a collector if you don't look at the coins!

My bank has some things like that, sell for around $7-$8 dollars. I got one for the heck of it, has the old design for the nickel and the new. Pretty neat. :kewl:

Sounds interesting... Nickels huh? My other bank had some for the State quarters; they were $4.50 each and give you both a P and D minted quarters with a nice descriptive folder. I got two for Colorado and one for N. Dakota. Tried selling the extra Colorado folder on ebay but no takers.

Where did I read the post about the attitudes here at Cointalk. The OP probably didn't even realize that he had typed that. One person mentioning it was sufficient. Why the bandwagon?

This place seems to be like a bunch of little piranhas just waiting in the shadows to jump on the first thing they can.

About the coin: It does look like some die chips, not any real value but a neat find. Probably could get a few bucks each for them on Ebay. : ) Good Luck and keep searching, they are out there.

    You know Jim,
    I think your Right.
will change the eBay actions to reflect that.
    Thank you for your input
